CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ POLAND — Kyle O. Kotch, 22, of Kennedy was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI with a BAC of 0.8% or higher, aggravated unlicensed operator and failure to keep right. Deputies responded Aug. 3 at 1 a.m. to a crash on Falconer-Frewsburg Road in the town of Poland. An investigation found that Kotch was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition. He was released with tickets to appear in Poland Town Court later.

¯ PORTLAND — Kevin Hughes , 57, of Bemus Point was charged with first-degree possession of a forged instrument and petit larceny. An investigation determined that Hughes was in possession of a counterfeit $100 bill at a business on Route 20 in the town of Portland. Hughes used the bill to purchase merchandise from the business. He was taken into custody and arraigned at Chautauqua County Jail.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

¯ STOW — Jarred Ristau, 20, of Jamestown was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Ristau was stopped Sunday on Interstate 86 for a traffic violation. Troopers reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search turned up a bag cocaine, nine wax envelopes containing concentrated cannabis butter, a jar containing marijuana and two smoking devices. Ristau was placed under arrest, transported to SP Jamestown and processed. Ristau was issued appearance tickets to be in North Harmony Town Court later.
