Three youths are facing petit larceny charges after the Ellicott Police Department received a complaint of items being removed from unlocked vehicles.

The incident, Ellicott police said Wednesday, took place in several locations around June 20 in West Ellicott. A witness told police they saw three people entering the vehicles and removing various items.

With the assistance of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, two of the youths were located while entering an unlocked vehicle. A third male was later identified, Ellicott police said.

All three youths were issued appearance tickets for petit larceny; they are scheduled to appear in Chautauqua County Family Court later.
