NEW YORK STATE POLICE

¯ KIANTONE — Robert Shaffer, 45, Clarendon, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated. Troopers responded to Route 62 in Kiantone on Dec. 12 for a motor vehicle crash. An investigation found that Shaffer, in an intoxicated condition, drove southbound before crossing the northbound lane and coming to rest in a ditch. He was transported to UPMC Chautauqua where a blood sample was taken and he was treated for his injuries. Shaffer was later processed and issued tickets to appear in Kiantone Town Court at a later date.

¯ STEAMBURG — Robert Colburn, 26, of Steamburg was charged with driving while intoxicated. Colburn was stopped Dec. 13 on Route 394 in Steamburg for a traffic violation. He was taken into custody after reportedly failing several field sobriety tests and transported to police barracks in Jamestown. Colburn provided a breath sample of .17 percent. He was issued appearance tickets to be in Cold Spring Town Court next month.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ HANOVER — Dawn M. Espersen, 48, of Forestville was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or more, driving while intoxicated, failure to submit to a breath test and failure to keep right. Deputies responded Sunday at 8:36 p.m. to Bennett State Road in Hanover for a single car crash. An investigation found that Espersen exited the road after failing to keep right. Espersen was taken into custody after it was determined she was intoxicated. Espersen was released with appearance tickets to be in Hanover Town Court at a later date.

¯ HANOVER — A 17-year-old male was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief. Deputies responded at 8:40 p.m. Sunday to a West Spears Road home for a reported altercation. It was learned that the male allegedly damaged property that belonged to another person. The male was taken into custody and arraigned in Hanover Town Court. He was released to appear in court at a later date to answer the charges.

¯ KIANTONE — Carl Mazzurco, 85, of Lakewood was charged with failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign. Deputies responded Sunday at 5:05 p.m. to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Kiantone Road and Route 60. It was learned that Mazzurco was attempting to make a left turn onto Route 60 when he reportedly failed to yield the right of way for a vehicle traveling southbound on Route 60. Mazzurco and a passenger were transported to UPMC Chautauqua for minor injuries. Occupants in the other vehicle were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Melissa L. Bridges, 50, of Ripley was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Police observed Bridges Dec. 12 walking on Route 20 in Westfield. Bridges was known to have an arrest warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance. During a search, officers found her in possession of a glass pipe. Bridges was arraigned in Westfield Town Court and sent to Chautauqua County Jail.
