CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ HANOVER — Donald J. Merritt, 22, of Ashville was charged June 30 with DWI, DWI per se and speed in zone. At 10:25 p.m. deputies observed a vehicle speeding on Routes 5 and 20 in Hanover. Deputies then stopped the vehicle and identified Merritt as its operator. Following an investigation, deputies arrested Merritt, who will answer his charges in Hanover Town Court.

¯ HANOVER –Renee J. Koval, 23, of Niagara Falls was charged Sunday with DWI, DWI per se and speed in zone. At 6:29 p.m. deputies observed a vehicle speeding on Routes 5 and 20 in Hanover. Deputies then stopped the vehicle and identified Koval as its operator. Following an investigation, deputies arrested Koval, who will answer her charges in Hanover Town Court.

¯ HANOVER –Emily F. Wartinger, 22, of Cheektowaga was charged Sunday with DWI, DWI per se and speed in zone. At 8:16 p.m. deputies observed a vehicle speeding on Routes 5 and 20 in Hanover. Deputies then stopped the vehicle and identified Wartinger as its operator. Following an investigation, deputies arrested Wartinger, who will answer her charges in Hanover Town Court.

¯ MAYVILLE — A Jamestown woman faces charges after she allegedly tried to bring methamphetamine into the Chautauqua County Jail on Monday. Deputies responded to the jail at 6:08 p.m. Monday after it was reported there was a person possessing a controlled substance; Amanda J. Spitale, 27, of Jamestown, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree introducing contraband into a corrections facility. She will be in Chautauqua Town Court later.

WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Frank Riscili, 68, of Westfield was charged June 20 for second-degree harassment, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and endangering the welfare of a child. At 8:04 p.m. Westfield patrols responded to Riscili’s residence for a domestic dispute in progress. After an investigation, it is alleged that Riscili got into a verbal and physical altercation with a female victim. He allegedly grabbed the victim’s neck and choked her against her will, punched a hole in the wall, threw a baby gate and kitchen spatula at the victim and did so in the presence of a 13-year-old male juvenile. Riscili was arraigned in the Westfield Village Court by Judge Thomas with bail set at $2,000 cash/$4,000 property. He was transported to Cattaraugus County Jail without further incident.

¯ David E. Morga, 21, of Dunkirk was charged June 23 with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. At 2:45 a.m. Westfield Police observed a vehicle traveling on West Main Street in the Village of Westfield violating a local noise ordinance. The vehicle was stopped, and Morga identified himself. Further investigation revealed Morga’s driving privileges in New York State are suspended. He was issued a traffic ticket.

¯ Thomas H. Majkowski, 42, of Brocton was charged June 30 with petit larceny. At 6:30 p.m. Westfield Police were called to the Kwik Fill Gas Station at 7630 Route 20 in Westfield after a male subject failed to pay for gas that he had pumped. Police arrested Majkowski after he allegedly pumped $76.78 of gas and failed to pay for it. He was issued an appearance ticket for Westfield Town Court.

LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Alicia M. Machado, 24, of Jamestown was charged with petit larceny. Police say Machado allegedly under-rang $25.12 worth of merchandise on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Walmart on Fairmount Avenue. Machado was issued an appearance ticket to be in Busti Town Court at a later date.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

¯ SHERMAN — Julian Nitkiewicz, 25, of Sherman was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Troopers stopped a vehicle Tuesday on Route 76 in Sherman for a traffic violation. While speaking to the driver, troopers reported smelling marijuana coming from the car. Nitkiewicz was later found in possession of 4 grams of marijuana and a smoking device containing marijuana residue. Nitkiewicz was issued an appearance ticket to be in Sherman Town Court at a later date.

ELLICOTT POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Jean M. Pillittieri, 53, of Jamestown was charged with petit larceny. Police responded June 30 at 1:15 p.m. to a shoplifting complaint at Tops Markets in Falconer. Pillittieri was found to have allegedly taken items without paying. Pillittieri was issued an appearance tickets to be in Ellicott Town Court at a later date.
