CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ FREWSBURG — Jacob V. Anderson, 32, of Frewsburg was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI Per Se, and operating with no headlights or taillights. Deputies observed a vehicle operating with no headlights or tail lights in Frewsburg around 10:26 on June 16. Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified Anderson as the operator. Following an investigation, deputies took Anderson into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Carroll Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

¯ SILVER CREEK — Dawn M. Esperson, 48, of Silver Creek was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated. Deputies were investigating a motorcycle crash around 11 p.m. Saturday in the village of Silver Creek when they were alerted as to the possibility of an intoxicated motorist who was present at the scene of the crash. Deputies identified Esperson as the motorist. Following an investigation, Esperson was taken into custody, and is scheduled to answer the charge in Silver Creek Village Court.

¯ SILVER CREEK — Leroy C. Gilbert, 21, of Dunkirk was charged with felony driving while intoxicated (previous DWI conviction within 10 years), felony aggravated unlicensed operation, DWI per se, speed in zone and operating without ignition interlock device. Deputies observed a vehicle to be traveling at a high rate of speed in the village of Silver Creek around 3:25 a.m. Sunday. Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the operator to be Gilbert. He was processed and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.

¯ Stephanie Knighton, 29, of Falconer was charged with felony first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, petit larceny, misuse of food stamps and fifth-degree welfare fraud. It was found that Knighton allegedly failed to notify the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services of income within her household from Jan. 13, 2017, through April 30, 2017. This unreported income allowed for Knighton to receive $654 in unentitled SNAP/Food Stamp benefits. Knighton is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Christian O. Opio, 36, of Jamestown was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Jamestown police conducted a warrant check Saturday on Opio, who had several confirmed warrants through Jamestown City Court. While officers were taking Opio into custody a small baggie was dropped onto the ground containing a white soap-like substance. An investigation found the substance was cocaine. Opio was transported to City Jail and held pending arraignment in court.
