CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ CHERRY CREEK — Kenneth J. Jankowski, 33, of Cherry Creek was charged Thursday with speed in zone, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, DWI and DWI per se. Around 12:08 a.m. deputies observed a vehicle speeding on Main St. in Cherry Creek. After stopping the vehicle, identifying Jankowski and investigating, deputies determined that he was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Jankowski was taken into custody and later released with tickets. He will appear in the Cherry Creek Town Court at a later date.

¯ CHAUTAUQUA — Michael J. Watson, 39, of Mayville was charged Thursday with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. At about 5:32 p.m., deputies conducted a warrant check at a residence in Chautauqua. They located Watson at the residence and took him into custody on outstanding warrants out of the Busti Town and Ellicott Town courts. Further investigations found that Watson was allegedly in possession of a controlled substance. Watson was brought to the Busti Town Court where he was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $5,000/$10,000 bail. Watson will answer to his Ellicott Town Court warrant and charge in the Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.

LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ James E. Smouse, 27, of Jamestown was charged with petit larceny and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at 3:57 p.m. June 4. Police report responding to a report of a larceny in progress at the Walmart in Lakewood. Smouse allegedly stole merchandise valued at $59.22 and allegedly had suboxone in his possession. Smouse will be in Busti Town Court later.

¯ Angelo L. Pollino, 30, of Lakewood was charged Thursday with driving while ability impaired by drugs, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and cell phone use while operating a motor vehicle. At about 11:35 p.m., a Lakewood-Busti police officer was on patrol on East Fairmount Avenue in Lakewood. The officer observed Pollino using his cell phone while driving and stopped the vehicle. Upon further investigation, Pollino was found to be driving while impaired by drugs and in possession of marijuana and multiple bindles of heroin. Pollino will appear in the Busti Town Court at a later date to answer charges.

¯ Julie B. Barry, 36, of Lakewood was charged Saturday with DWAI drugs and speed in zone. At about 12:49 a.m., a Lakewood-Busti police officer was on patrol on Hunt Road and observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. After stopping the vehicle and further investigation, the officer found that Barry was operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs. Barry was arrested and will appear in the Busti Town Court at a later date.

ELLICOTT POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Aaron W. Purdy was charged after a motor vehicle accident on New York Avenue in Falconer on June 6. Ellicott police report Purdy was under the influence of a controlled substance when he crashed his vehicle into a utility pole. He was taken to UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital and released with minor injuries. He will be in Ellicott Town Court later.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Claude T. Wine Jr. was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree unlawful imprisonment at 11:39 p.m. Thursday after police officers responded to the area of South Main Street and Prather Avenue for a reported injured woman. The woman told police she had been injured in a domestic incident by Wine, injuring the woman’s face. Wine also allegedly kept the woman from leaving the house when she tried to yell for help. Wine was found on Broadhead Avenue and charged. He was taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

¯ OLEAN — Lacy M. Nickola, 30, of Olean was charged Thursday with criminal trespass. Troopers responded to a report of a burglary in progress. While enroute, troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was reported to have left the scene and which Nickola was driving. After further investigation, Nickola was arrested and issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Olean Town Court later this month.

¯ STEAMBURG — Travis Hayes, 36, of Randolph was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated. Hayes was pulled over on Lebanon Road for speeding and after failing several SFSTs, he was placed under arrest. Hayes was transported to SP Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of .11. Hayes was then processed, issued tickets returnable to the Cold Spring Town Court and released, to appear in the Cold Springs Town Court later in the month.
