SILVER CREEK – A Gowanda woman was charged Thursday after allegedly injuring a police officer at Silver Creek Central School.

The incident occurred shortly after 9 a.m., when deputies with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to the school for a report of a disorderly person.

Inside, they observed 32-year-old Stephanie A. Hart allegedly yelling and causing a disturbance.

Deputies, unable to calm her down despite several warnings, attempted to take Hart into custody, when she allegedly resisted and bit the arm of one of the officers.

Hart was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

She was arraigned in Hanover Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.

The injured deputy was treated and released from a local hospital.
