Students Collect Items For Food Pantries
FREDONIA — Students enrolled in a variety of E2CCB Career and Technical Education clubs along with E Building students, staff and the E2CCB Central Business Office recently competed in a food drive competition to benefit the Salvation Army of Jamestown and the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry in Dunkirk.
The inaugural competition helped raise hundreds of pounds of non-perishable food for each organization. Student Clubs involved in the process included the Futue Farmer’s of America, Explorers Club, SkillsUSA, HOSA and the National Technical Honor Society.
“This was a schoolwide competition to see who could bring in the most non-perishable goods. It feels good to be able to give back to the community, a community that provides for us,” said Criminal Justice Press Officer Chase Ibach of Fredonia. “It feels good to be able to give to families in a time of need, espceically now that it’s getting colder out and things are getting more expensive.”
Students and staff in E Building on the LoGuidice Eduational Center campus were also able to raise more than $600 which was used to purchase food for students’ families. The club which raised the most food donations was the Explorers students from the Criminal Justice program.
