Payne Wins Re-Election As Carroll Supervisor

Russell Payne will remain the town supervisor in Carroll.

Payne, the incumbent, received 613 votes to Laura Smith’s 390 on Election Day. The results are unofficial.

Payne was on the Democratic, Republican and Conservative lines while Smith, who previously served as town supervisor, was on the Working Families line.

Carroll Highway Superintendent James H. Mitchener III was endorsed by the Republican and Conservative parties with Michael B. Walker endorsed by the Democratic Party. Walker brought in 502 votes while Mitchner had 482 votes.

Three positions on the Carroll Town Board were up for election this year. Three candidates ran for two positions: Timothy P. Burkett on the Democratic Party line, with Dalton J. Anthony and John T. Barber on the Republican and Conservative party lines. Barber and Anthony received the most votes with 694 and 666 respectively. There is also a vacant position on the board, however, Thomas Fenton ran unopposed for that seat.

In the town of Chautauqua, the race for town justice had two candidate, with Randolph Henderson endorsed by the Democratic and Working Families parties and Edward Kalfas endorsed by the Republican and Conservative parties. Kalfas received 531 votes while Henderson received 421 votes. Thomas Carlson and Alan Akin ran unopposed for the Chautauqua Town Board, receiving 652 votes and 678 votes, respectively.

North Harmony also had a contested race for two North Harmony Town Board positions. Steven Senske, endorsed by the Democratic Party, Richard Sena and Bruce Pfeil, both endorsed by the Republican party, ran for the positions. Senske received 191 votes, Sena received 369 votes and Pfeil received 303 votes. Voters were able to chose two out of three.

The Ripley Town Board had two available positions which six candidates ran for, including Laurel Adams, endorsed by the Democratic and Working Families parties; John Trevelline (Democrat); Donald Henry and Julie Rice (Republican); Keith Potter and Carolyn Torrance (Conservative).

There are two positions on the Ripley Town Board contested by six candidates. Laurel Adams is endorsed by the Democratic and Working Families parties, while the following candidates are endorsed by one party: John Trevelline (Democratic), Donald Henry and Julie Rice (Republican), Keith Potter and Carolyn Torrance (Conservative).

Trevelline received 144 votes, Adams received 132 votes, Henry received 243 votes, Rice received 226 votes, Potter received 47 votes, and Torrance received 42 votes. Voters were allowed to choose 2 candidates for the open positions.

In the town of Villenova, various candidates ran for two Villenova Town Board positions. Candidates included Nathan Palmer and Daniel Distasio, who were endorsed by the Democratic and Republican parties, while Susan Baldwin and Nancy Huber were endorsed by the Improvement Party. Palmer received 153 votes, Distasio received 150 votes, Baldwin received 59 votes and Huber received 64 votes. Candidates were able to choose two candidates for the open positions.
