A man shot Tuesday night on Water Street in the city has died, the Jamestown Police Department said. The investigation, noted by Jamestown police as a shooting/homicide, is ongoing.

Several officers and investigators responded to a report of a gunshot victim around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday. The male victim was located near 60 Water St. and transported by ambulance to UPMC Chautauqua.

The victim’s name and age have not yet been released by JPD.

In addition to Jamestown police, the county Forensic Investigation Team and members of the county District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene.

A portion of Water Street was cordoned off with yellow caution police tape. Officers could be seen with flashlights searching the ground as well as looking over a Jeep parked out front of a nearby residence.

A woman who lives near the scene told The Post-Journal, “We heard a boom, and before you know it we seen lights going by the house. Someone came by and heard on the scanner it was a gunshot.”
