Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel on Monday said county residents must remember “this is a marathon and not a sprint.”
“The numbers were high over the weekend, but that’s three days,” he said. “We’ve had as many as 90 or 100 in a day. Hopefully people are heeding our warning. It’s a marathon not a sprint. With that said, we need people to keep that in mind as we move forward.”
Since March, the county has recorded 2,477 total confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of that number, 2,013 have recovered.
There are currently 23 people with the virus hospitalized, which is unchanged from statistics released by the county Health Department on Friday.
