County Reports 19 New COVID Cases

The Chautauqua County Department of Health on Thursday reported 19 new cases of COVID-19.

The cases include: six in Jamestown, five in Dunkirk, one in Forestville, two in Fredonia, one in Falconer, one in Frewsburg, two in Lakewood and one in Ripley.

The county Health Department said there remains 11 active cases among employees and 55 active cases among residents associated with Tanglewood Manor. An outbreak at the West Ellicott adult-care facilities were first detected late last week.

Tanglewood Group owner Nick Ferreri said in an interview he hopes the situation will soon be mitigated.

“We hope that this virus is out of our place within the next 30 days,” he said. “Our game plan is to try and get rid of it in the next two weeks. My staff and all the residents are working together and I think our structure is such that we can isolate the individuals in groups and also service them.”

Countywide, there remains 120 active cases for those who continue to recover under orders from local health officials. In addition, there have been 698 recoveries, 13 deaths and 831 total confirmed cases.

In Cattaraugus County, the number of confirmed cases as of Thursday evening was 327, of which 78 were considered active.

To date, 238 have recovered in addition to 12 COVID-19-related deaths, 45 in precautionary quarantine, 325 in mandatory quarantine and 34,172 negative test results.
