A Lakewood man involved in a suspected burglary who led police on a brief vehicle pursuit before crashing Wednesday is facing multiple charges.
The Jamestown Police Department announced the arrest of 41-year-old Stephen C. Dean. Around 9:40 a.m., officers were asked to assist a citizen following a light-colored sedan involved in a burglary in the town of Kiantone.
The driver -- identified as Dean -- failed to comply and fled, leading officers on a chase through the downtown area. In a news release, the department said Dean struck several construction signs on West Second Street at Lafayette Street before entering Potters Alley.
Upon exiting the alley, Dean struck an eastbound vehicle on East Fifth Street, before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot. He was quickly taken into custody in the parking lot of 7-Eleven on North Main Street, JPD said.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash was transported by ambulance to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment of injuries not believed to be serious.
East Fifth Street was briefly closed to vehicle traffic. Members of the Jamestown Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Dean, who was not injured in the crash, was charged with failure to comply, obstructing governmental administration and numerous traffic violations. The investigation remains ongoing, and Jamestown police say additional charges are expected.
The state police is investigating the reported burglary in Kiantone; charges from that incident are expected as well.
