City Man Facing Slew Of Criminal Charges

Dale Linkous

LAKEWOOD — A Jamestown man who escaped police custody by breaking a holding cell bench has been found two days later, the Lakewood-Busti Police Department said Wednesday.

Dale R. Linkous Jr., 21, is facing a host of charges after he was initially stopped Sunday in the parking lot of 277 E. Fairmount Ave. in Lakewood for failing to stop at a red light.

An investigation found that Linkous had a revoked driver’s license, did not have a required interlock device and had an order of protection to stay away from a passenger in the vehicle.

Furthermore, police found Linkous in possession of 62 grams of cocaine in addition to oxycodone and marijuana.

Linkous was taken into custody.

However, while being processed at the Lakewood-Busti Police Department, officers said Linkous “broke the leg shackle off the holding cell bench and ran out the door.”

Police, with the assistance of county Probation, located the Jamestown man Tuesday.

He was taken into custody and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail.

Linkous is facing charges of first-degree escape, aggravated unlicensed operation, operating without an ignition interlock device, false personation, first-degree criminal contempt, unlawful possession of marijuana, third- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal mischief and petit larceny.

He is being held on $250,000 bail.
