Man, 20, Indicted On Murder Charge

A 20-year-old has been indicted by a Chautauqua County grand jury on a second-degree murder charge for the November 2017 stabbing death of Dyllan Ownbey.

Tavion L. Turner was taken into custody and arraigned in Chautauqua County Court for his involvement in the homicide, Jamestown police said in a press release. He is being held on $1 million cash bail.

Ownbey, a 22-year-old Frewsburg resident, was stabbed on Willard Street late Nov. 28, 2017. He was rushed to UPMC Chautauqua hospital but pronounced dead.

According to Jamestown police, Ownbey was walking down Willard Street with the suspect prior to the incident. Witnesses say they saw the pair fighting near the intersection between Peterson and Eagle streets.

At the time of the stabbing, investigators said there may have been a second suspect in the area who fled toward Peterson Street.

Jamestown police declined to comment beyond the announcement of the indictment.
