After five weeks of performances at the Spire Theater by local and regional talents, Aaron and Boaz Mecham emerged as the winners of the 10th season of Chautauqua’s Got Talent.

In doing so, the twins claimed the $1,000 prize.

“Over a series of five performances, over the same amount of weeks, the Mecham twins always impressed the audience with their creativity, their preparation and the energy they both exude while on stage,” said Angelo Guiffre, Spire executive director. “They mixed up their set list with classical music on some weeks, also utilizing modern classic songs, while always incorporating their own electrifying style into every performance.”

“As an incredibly talented duo, this seems like only the beginning for a very bright future for these two,” he continued.

Also performing during the first half of Monday’s show were Kayla Malika, Kayle Dean, Taylor Beckwith, Todd Wagner, Miranda Wilcox, Trenton Shutters, Tommy Johnson, Reiley Kolstee and Ayri Brady.

The finale had a packed auditorium with many fans for the various performers. Shutter’s fans were particularly noteworthy, drawing the ire of the notorious judge, Paul Clemente. Nonetheless, plenty of support was evident for each and every one of the performers.

Wagner particularly thanked everyone for their support through the past five weeks, as he is new to the Jamestown area. In his words, “I don’t have many people here to support me.”

The show featured a guest judge, Steve Johnson, from the Probables. Also, during the second half of the show, previous winners of Chautauqua’s Got Talent performed: Dylan Carlson from last year; season eight winner Libby Lutgen; season five winner and runner up respectively Teal Weatherly and Lindsey Hinger; and two-time finalist Ryan Buzzetto.

Ayri Brady performed a song that emphasized to the audience that they should “be true to who you are,” and one of the judges commended that.

Jeremy Little, the host of this year’s festivities, shared some serious comments after the eighth performance.

“Bring this energy that you brought with you tonight out to where these talented individuals perform,” Little said. “There is a lot of art and passion in the city of Jamestown, a lot that is being created right here in our community. We need to go out and support it.”
