Construction has officially started at the Jamestown Brewing Company.
Officials from the new brewery and restaurant located at the corner of Third and Washington streets have posted photos to their Facebook page showing the cutout of the first floor where guest will be able to see the brewing process while enjoying a Jamestown Brewing Company craft beer.
Jon McLellan II, who is opening the business with his father Jon McLellan, said they are also in the process of redoing the lighting and making plumbing and electrical improvements.
“Things are moving along,” he said.
There is no set opening date for the new business, but McLellan said they are committed to opening in the fall. The restaurant and bar will seat around 300 people, with 168 available on the mezzanine and 124 accessible on the first floor, McLellan said in March. There will also be a third floor banquet room, which can fit a large group of around 300 or can be retrofitted for smaller occassions.
The first floor of the business will have an open floor area where people can pull up a stool and watch the brewing process in the basement. He said there will be a lounge area and pub and booth seating available. Also, the south wall of the upper floor will be replaced by a windows so people can see what is happening at the National Comedy Center. He added in future years, they want to be able to offer customers outdoor seating and roof top accessibility.
In March, McLellan was hoping to have the business operational by the time the National Comedy Center opened, which occurred Aug. 1. He said it is disappointing that the new restaurant and bar wasn’t open for the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival.
“Yeah we are extremely disappointed. That was the plan, and that was the plan for a lot of new projects that aren’t open yet either,” he said. “I’m sure we are all disappointed.”
However, for the comedy festival, Jamestown Brewing Company officials unveiled a new banner on the west side of the building facing the National Comedy Center and Northwest Arena.
“We will be present (during the festival),” he said. “We will have a table out handing out some swag items.”
McLellan said they have posted on their Facebook page that they are starting to except resumes.
“We are really excited about accepting applications and resumes,” he said.
