Allen Street: Heart Of City’s Manufacturing Corridor

The office furniture maker Bush Industries, located at One Mason Drive, employs 250 people at its Mason Drive and Allen Street locations. Overall, Bush Industries, which also has a manufacturing facility in China and domestic distribution centers in Erie, Pa., and Reno, Nev., has 340 employees.

A variety of manufacturing businesses, both large and small, are located along Allen Street in Jamestown.

The Post-Journal contacted a few of the businesses located along the heart of the city’s manufacturing corridor to discover a little more about what they do. Information from Artone, Bush Industries, Colecraft and TitanX are included in this story.

ARTONE

Artone LLC is located at 1089 Allen St. and employs 100 workers who produce hospitality and health care casegoods, retail displays and contract furniture. The ownership group is Albion Artone Investors LLC, with Michael Calimeri as the business’ president and Sebastian Calimeri as the executive vice president.

Artone’s mission statement is to design, build and install commercial furniture for customers who value progressive design, turnkey solutions and honest partnership. The business, with more than $15 million in annual total sales, delivers a high combination of style, quality and service in the industry. Working as a team, Artone continually improves their products and processes. Their mission is to constantly meet or exceed customer’s expectations for high-quality, customized furnishings with on time, worry-free installation allowing Artone to prosper both individually and as a business.

Artone’s furniture is sold nationwide, but can be seen locally at the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites Jamestown, Best Western Plus downtown Jamestown, Tanglewood Manor, Lutheran Social Services, Hultquist Place and Jamestown Area Medical Associates. If you travel just outside of Jamestown, you will find their products at the Seneca Allegany Casino, Seneca Niagara Casino, Microtel by Wyndham and DSW Shoe Warehouse. A few of their largest jobs outside of the area include Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Sapphire Falls and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

BUSH INDUSTRIES

Bush Industries has an Allen Street location, but its main Jamestown headquarters is located a short distance away at One Mason Drive. The office furniture maker employees 250 people at its Mason Drive and Allen Street locations. Overall, Bush Industries, which also has a manufacturing facility in China and domestic distribution centers in Erie, Pa., and Reno, Nev., has 340 employees.

Bush Industries mission statement is to continuously improve and innovate their diverse line of furniture products and strengthen their industry leading supply chain services. They will deliver furniture solutions at a quality level their customers will associate with higher cost options. They will create profitable stakeholder value.

People can find Bush Industries products at Office Depot, Staples, Amazon, Cymax, Wayfair and other online merchants.  They also offer exclusive pricing for county businesses. Company brands include BBF, Bush Business Furniture, which is the commercial furniture division and Bush Furniture, which is the ready-to-assemble furniture for the home including entertainment, storage and home office solutions.

The ownership group and company executives include Jim Garde, chief executive officer; Mike Evans, chief marketing officer; Neil Frederick, chief financial officer; and Steve Phelan, executive vice president sales.

COLECRAFT COMMERCIAL FURNISHINGS

Colecraft Commercial Furnishings is located at 1021 Allen St. and employees approximately 35 people. Colecraft creates high quality, innovative furniture solutions that combine style, function, technology and craftsmanship in commercial furniture. They design and manufacture reception areas, conference rooms, private offices, training rooms and libraries. Colecraft also offers full automotive dealership solutions for several worldwide auto brands. Colecraft furniture provides visual appeal, enhanced performance and long-term satisfaction for business, educational and institutional organizations.

Colecraft furniture is sold exclusively through commercial furniture dealers throughout the United States. Locally, their furniture can be seen at the James Prendergast Library, BWB Jamestown offices, Ed Shults Ford Lincoln, the Sheldon Foundation and at the Robert H Jackson Center. Other locations where their products can be viewed include the Chautauqua Institution, the State University of New York at Fredonia, Bentley Motors and the GE Corporation.

Colec raft’s mission is to lead their industry in the manufacturing of commercial office furnishings by focusing on innovative product solutions, outstanding craftsmanship and personal service. They build successful, long-term relationships with customers by understanding their needs and then designing solutions that meet style, functional and budget requirements. Their environmental mission is to promote human health and safety, protect the environment and conserve natural resources.

The ownership group includes David Messinger, president and chief executive officer, Chris Friend, senior vice president and chief operating officer, and Ben Kozlowski, vice president of engineering.

TITANX

TitanX is located at 2258 Allen St. Ext. and employees 240 at its Jamestown location, with approximately 800 workers worldwide. At the Jamestown facility, TitanX produces engine cooling modules for heavy trucks, buses, motor homes and special applications. Local people can see TitanX’s ingenuity work daily through school buses, public works department trucks and delivery trucks that use their engine cooling modules.

TitanX Engine Cooling is a global supplier of powertrain cooling solutions to commercial vehicles, both for original equipment manufactures and the independent aftermarket. TitanX has annual sales of more than $1.6 billion. The company is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, and has manufacturing sites in Sweden, USA, Brazil, China and Mexico.

TitanX’s mission statement is to make their customers in the commercial vehicle industry highly competitive by designing and supplying superior powertrain cooling solutions.

In 2016, TitanX became a part of Tata AutoComp Systems Limited, which is one of India’s leading auto-component conglomerates. TitanX continues to operate as a separate entity within Tata AutoComp. The acquisition gave TitanX great opportunities to further strengthen their role as a global partner of advanced cooling solutions of powertrains to their customers.
