Jamestown Man Charged After Saturday Morning Altercation

A Jamestown man has been taken into custody following a domestic incident early Saturday morning.

According to a press release from the Jamestown Police Department, police responded to 909 Washington St. for a reported fight just after 2:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers observed Akeem T. Sims, 20, yelling obscenities at a female victim while in public. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Sims and the female victim had gotten into a physical altercation.

Police reported Sims had thrown the victim to the ground, causing the victim to lose consciousness-then allegedly proceeded to punch, kick and spit on her. The release stated that Sims then dragged the victim across the street by her hair. After she regained consciousness, Sims allegedly restrained her so she could not get away.

Sims was being held at the City Jail, pending arraignment, and was charged with third-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment and disorderly conduct.
