Teachers throughout Chautauqua County will have a unique opportunity this fall when Echoes & Reflections, a nationally recognized Holocaust education program, comes to Chautauqua Institution for a full-day professional development workshop.
"This is an incredible opportunity for teachers in our county," said Leigh-Anne Hendrick, program director of the Holocaust and Social Justice Education Program. "Echoes & Reflections brings together some of the best resources and expertise available in Holocaust education, and we are thrilled to be able to bring that experience directly to our local educators."
The Holocaust and Social Justice Education Program of Chautauqua County, funded by the generosity of the Hebrew Congregation of Chautauqua, will host Echoes & Reflections: Holocaust Education in the Digital Age on Nov. 9 at Lenna Hall at Chautauqua Institution from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The workshop is open to all Chautauqua County teachers at no cost, and lunch is included. Teachers can learn more and register by visiting chqsocialjustice.org/teacher-workshop and selecting the registration link for the Nov. 9 workshop.
Echoes & Reflections is a partnership of the Anti-Defamation League, USC Shoah Foundation and Yad Vashem, providing educators with research-based professional development and classroom resources for teaching the Holocaust. The workshop will explore effective approaches to teaching Holocaust history, analyzing propaganda and primary sources, developing media literacy, and helping students engage thoughtfully with difficult history.
