Faulkner running for County Legislature in District 13

3 min read

Andrew Faulkner is running for District 13 of the Chautauqua County Legislature.

Faulkner has represented Ward 6 on the Jamestown City Council for the past five years. During his time on the council, he has focused on addressing neighborhood concerns, improving quality of life, investing in the city's housing stock and making local government more responsive to residents. His work has included supporting programs that help senior citizens make home improvements and assist homeowners with roof repairs, sewer lateral repairs and water line replacements. These investments help residents address costly repairs while preserving homes and strengthening neighborhoods.

Faulkner has also worked with the city's Department of Development to address problem properties, including seeking updates on demolition plans for the property at Willard and Allen streets. He has supported Department of Public Works investments, including funding for a sidewalk repair pilot program and a salt brine deicing system aimed at improving pedestrian safety and winter road maintenance.

In addition to his City Council responsibilities, Faulkner was appointed to the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities in 2026, expanding his role in local government to include oversight of essential utility services.

Faulkner has also advocated for additional tools to address neglected properties and neighborhood nuisances, including the creation of a nuisance officer position and quality-of-life ticketing. His neighborhood outreach has included hosting a community meet-and-greet at the improved Johnson Street Park, bringing residents, families and local officials together to see the improvements and connect with one another.

"My time on City Council has taught me that good local government starts with listening to the people you represent," Faulkner said. "Over the past five years, I've worked with residents, city employees and my fellow council members to find solutions to the issues facing our neighborhoods. I'm proud of what we've accomplished, and I'm ready to bring that same approach to the County Legislature."

Faulkner works as an electrician and said his experience in the trades, combined with his years in local government, has given him an understanding of the challenges facing working families, homeowners and taxpayers throughout the community.

"I've always tried to be accessible and willing to listen, even when we don't agree," Faulkner said. "Public service isn't about getting credit. It's about showing up, doing the work and trying to leave your community better than you found it."

Outside of public service, Faulkner enjoys racing at Stateline Speedway. He recently competed in the Altima 600 at the Freedom Factory in Florida, finishing 13th out of over 90 drivers.
