LAKEWOOD – 'Everybody Plays' officially opened its doors Wednesday, offering an energetic, interactive indoor space for children to play indoors.
Located inside the Chautauqua Mall, the family-owned and operated business held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday to inaugurate a new, innovative, family-budget-friendly, safe, clean, all-inclusive children's play area nicely packaged in a storefront.
"I'm a mother of young children, so I believe I have a good grasp of what parents and children want or would like in a play area," said Tress Williams, Everybody Plays owner and proprietor.
Williams expressed that several motivations led her and her family to establish an all-inclusive indoor play area.
"For starters, we live in Western New York – where our winters can be harsh," explained Williams. "There really isn't a lot of options for active, indoor play in our area, and especially ones that are affordable for everyone."
The space offers small climbers and slides, an indoor swing, climbing dome and pretend play activities. Adult supervision is required at all times. Socks are required in the play space with shoes removed. A dedicated seating area is available, as well as seating in the play space. Prepackaged snacks are available for purchase.
Williams mentioned that the play area is intended for younger children. However, if demand exists and the business is supported (in its current form), she is open to adding more equipment and expanding the play area to accommodate older kids.
"Right now we are equipped for kids 8 years old and younger," she said. "However, if there is a demand and the community supports us, then we would look at expanding."

"Children one year old and younger are free, and there is no charge for adults," Williams said.
Lakewood Mayor Randall Holcomb was among those who attended a ribbon for Everybody Plays earlier this week.
“The new indoor playground, “Everybody Plays”, is a great asset for the village and community as a whole," Holcomb said. "An indoor playground such as “Everybody Plays” provides a safe, weather-proof space for kids to stay active and families to connect and shop year-round. Located in the center of the Chautauqua Mall and easy to get to, it will no doubt be a destination for families.”
