Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County will hold free energy literacy events at the Fredonia First Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Oct. 21 and the Chautauqua Center in Jamestown at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 4.
The seminars are to help residents across Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties save energy, reduce household energy costs, and make informed decisions about sustainable living.
The session will be led by Divine Jones, sustainability campaign educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County. She focuses on helping individuals and families understand how small, achievable changes can lead to meaningful savings both financially and environmentally.
"We want community members to feel supported and empowered when it comes to energy use in their homes," Jones said. "Energy literacy isn't just about understanding where your energy comes from; it's about knowing how to make choices that improve comfort, reduce costs, and contribute to a healthier future for our region."
Participants will also be able to ask questions and learn about additional NYSERDA-based programs available throughout Cattaraugus County.
