DEWITTVILLE – On Saturday, Oct. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., YMCA Camp Onyahsa will hold its annual Cash for Camp fundraiser to support youth development at its Dewittville site.
One of the longest-established YMCA camps in the United States, Camp Onyahsa has expanded its programs beyond summer to offer year-round activities for children, teens, families, not-for-profit organizations and the community in addition to its summer day and resident youth camps.
The evening at Onyahsa will offer hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer, music, cash prizes, basket raffles and conversation with other "friends of Camp" and supporters. The fundraiser will be held in the Darrah Mess Hall at Camp Onyahsa in Dewittville, with an after-hours campfire to follow from 7 to 9 p.m.
This year, the event will honor Bruce and Juline Battler, community leaders who support a number of local organizations, and who share a long history with the camp. Bruce Battler attended as a youth and participated in the YMCA swim team. Now the Battlers' grandchildren engage in Onyahsa's summer programs.
Tickets will admit two adults for $100, and they will also enter the bearer to win cash prizes totaling $3,000. Winners do not need to be present to win. Basket prizes will also be offered as raffle items.
Tickets may be purchased online at https://tinyurl.com/2xnayprr or by mailing a check to 101 E. Fourth St., Jamestown, NY 14701. Email office@onyahsa.org or call 716-664-2802, ext. 238, for more information.
