Subaru Loves Pets Adoption, Rescue Village expands for Pet Expo ’26

The Subaru Loves Pets Adoption and Rescue Village will expand when Pet Expo '26 takes place Saturday, Oct. 17, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Northwest Arena.

One of the most inviting features of CCHS Pet Expo '26 is its pet‑friendly atmosphere. Families are encouraged to bring their dogs, their confident cats and any pet who can safely enjoy the day. The expo is designed to celebrate the bond between people and animals, offering hands-on learning stations, interactive exhibitions, agility demonstrations, wildlife education, and activities that welcome every age, and every species.

At the heart of this year's event is the expanded Subaru Loves Pets Adoption & Rescue Village, supported by Shults Subaru and The Shults Auto Group. The Rescue Village brings together shelters and rescues from across Western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania, creating an opportunity for families to meet adoptable pets from multiple organizations all in one place.

Newly added to the Rescue Village is Westfield Stray Cat Rescue, joining a group that includes the Chautauqua County Humane Society, Happy Bark, Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, Paws Along the River, Phoenix Humane Society of Greater Cattaraugus Inc., and Small Town Shelter. Their participation reinforces a key message of Pet Expo '26: this event is about more than just dogs. Cats will be well represented, with friendly adults, playful youngsters, and confident feline companions available for adoption throughout the day.

The Rescue Village also features organizations like Nola's Angels Horse Rescue, TSC Wildlife Rescue and Wild Creatures, offering education on the work being done to help farm animals, exotics, and wildlife across the region.

"Most importantly, the Rescue Village provides a meaningful chance to help animals in need," Chautauqua County Humane Society officials said in a news release. "With shelters experiencing high intake numbers, adopting a pet at the expo not only changes one life, it opens space for the next animal who needs help."

CCHS Pet Expo '26 will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Northwest Arena. Presenting sponsors are Supportive Divorce Solutions and Happy Hounds Hotel and Day Spa, while The Post-Journal is a media sponsor of the expo.
