FALCONER – The next meeting of the Falconer NY Forward Local Planning Committee is set for Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Fire Hall Training Center, 115 Davis St., starting at 5 p.m.
Falconer is one of two recipients of a $4.5 million New York State NY Forward award for the Western New York region, which will help revitalize part of the village.
Members of the Local Planning Commission were nominated by Falconer Mayor James Jaroszynski and, as previously reported in an edition of The Post-Journal, consist of Jaroszynski, who serves as co-chair along with Shane Marcheson, Brenda Cavallaro, P.J. Degnan, Mary Fales, Nina Gustafson, Elizabeth Jones, Josiah Lamp, Angelo Marra, Joe Sanfilippo, Christopher Schrader, Ed Sullivan and Ro Woodard.
Greene said topics to be covered in the upcoming meeting will include public engagement updates; revitalization strategies for downtown; key takeaways from the downtown assessment; project evaluation criteria; projects submitted during the 'Open Call for Project'; discussion on whether to remove any projects from funding consideration, as appropriate; discussion on whether to amend the boundary to include potentially transformative projects, as appropriate; and public comments.
Greene shared a link to a community survey regarding feedback received after a Sept. 17 public workshop, which can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/r/J5KNPL7. The survey sought feedback on several topics, including the official vision statement for the NY Forward Grant project, goals, and revitalization strategies.
Additionally, a survey related to the NYS grant for the Village of Falconer is currently available at www.surveymonkey.com/r/FalconerSurvey. This survey is open to all members of the public, including both residents and visitors of Falconer. The feedback gathered will help the LPC make more informed decisions in the future.
