Gift from Anne Marie Valone Trust helps renovate UPMC Chautauqua chapel

A gift to the WCA Foundation from the Anne Marie Valone Trust has helped create a renewed place of peace, prayer, and reflection for patients, families, and staff at UPMC Chautauqua.

The hospital chapel renovation was formally recognized during a blessing ceremony led by Father Paul Cygan of St. James Roman Catholic Church. A Jamestown native, Anne Marie Valone had longstanding ties to the community; her family operated Valone Dry Cleaning on Washington Street, and her brother, Dr. James Valone, practiced medicine at WCA Hospital. Stephen and Martina Moulton, administrators of the Anne Marie Valone Trust in Rochester, said Anne Marie Valone would be honored to know that patients, families and staff now have a peaceful space for worship, quiet reflection and spiritual comfort.

Ann Marie Valone grew up in Jamestown, graduating from Jamestown High school in 1948. She attended the University of Buffalo, and graduated from Erie Community College in Dental Hygiene, as well as SUNY College at Brockport with a bachelor’s degree. She worked for many years as a dental hygiene teacher at Kendall Central School and finished her career as Director of the Rochester Dental Assistant’s School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society for teachers.

"Anne Marie cared deeply about this community, and this project is a meaningful way to honor both her faith and connection to health care," said Stephen Moulton, administrator of the Anne Marie Valone Trust. "We are grateful to see her legacy carried forward in a place that will serve people during some of life's most personal and important moments."
