The city's department of public works is looking to enter into an agreement for engineering services with C&S Engineers for their flood mitigation project near Jones and Gifford Avenue, and this agreement is up for approval at tonight's voting session.
The agreement is not to exceed $403,300, and the project is set to improve existing drainage channels along Jones and Gifford Avenue from Washington Street to reduce flooding impacts to transportation infrastructure and nearby industrial properties. According to tonight's voting session agenda, the engineering scope includes survey and data collection, hydraulic analysis, preliminary and detailed design, environmental permitting, right-of-way support, preparation of bid documents, and assistance through bidding. Construction support and construction inspection are not included in this agreement and would be addressed separately, if needed.
Following a consultant selection process C&S Engineers Inc. was selected to provide engineering services for the New York State Department of Transportation funded portion of the project.
The agenda also states that the maximum amount payable under the proposed agreement is
$403,300, which is less than the amount originally budgeted and estimated for this portion of the project. These engineering services are eligible for 80% reimbursement through NYSDOT, or up to $322,640, with a 20% city share of $80,660.
Tonight's voting session begins at 7:30 in the city council chambers on the second floor of city hall.
