CLYMER -- Work has become more noticeable on the installation of the new water system in the town of Clymer's downtown, with work continuing on track to be finished in the expected time frame.

At the Clymer town board's August meeting, Town Supervisor Brian Willink said that JD Northrup, who is the company doing the project, is currently working on placing the mains for the project. Construction on the new water tank was originally scheduled for mid-August, but has been pushed back to September. Testing of the new pipes and connections to homes are to follow after the mains are installed and reconstruction work has been completed on Maple Avenue, Freeman Road and part of Clymer-Sherman Road. The project is still projected to be finished in the fall of 2026.

"Those that have not had restoration work completed yet, this is kind of important," Willink said. "Probably two thirds of those that have had their yards dug up so far have been put back in place. The reason is because that had all been tested."

Even though the pipe is all underground, Willink said the restoration on Clymer-Corry Road and Clymer-Sherman Road that has not taken place yet will not happen for a couple more months. The water main has been installed but the water must be gotten to that area to do the chlorination, testing and all of the services.

"So if there's somebody out there who is wondering when there will be more restoration work, it will be a little while yet," Willink said.

He added what has been restored has been done because testing has been finished, noting that JD Northrup has done a great job of doing the restorations, even with a few rain storms that have come through. Additionally, if restoration work has been done and someone is not happy with it for whatever reason, Willink said they can contact him or Highway Superintendent Scott Trisket to reach out.

"I've heard a lot of positive comments on the restoration work that has already taken place," Willink said. "Once they get there it looks nice. Then they're going to come back over top of the driveways that are not concrete, blacktop, in late summer, early fall. So. they may have got your yard, they're still coming back to do blacktops."

Willink acknowledged that the work does not go as fast as anyone wants, but it takes as long as it needs to.
