In the story printed on Wednesday July 22, titled "Clymer School Board Discusses Regents 'Mixed Messages', Clymer Central School would like to clarify that NYSED said districts shouldn't count the Regents exam scores into their final course grade because if a student fails the exam, it may cause the student to fail the course for the year, causing them to lose credit for the course. That is why NYSED does not recommend counting the Regents Exams as a 5th marking period. They would also like to clarify that this is why it became confusing for teachers as to whether or not to count the Regents exams as a final marking period. Clymer's expectation is that students need to be taking the Regents exams to demonstrate student learning of the State Standards. District administration will be meeting with teachers to address mixed messaging causing confusion around district expectations for students enrolled in regents level courses.
