Thirteen Southwestern High School seniors are featured in a student art exhibit at Lakewood Memorial Library.
The students, from the art classes of Jenny Brown and Renee Mitchener, are part of the New York State Individualized Art Assessment Pathway (IAAP) pilot program, which they began as freshmen.
The IAAP provides a graduation pathway for students with a strong interest in the visual arts, allowing them to develop portfolios that demonstrate artistic growth, creativity, and technical skill. The program is designed to prepare students for future educational and professional opportunities in the arts.
Seniors in the program include Abigail Cama, Tryniti Card, Lucy Brown, Abigail Flagella, Kiernan Hiller, Tavio Hoose, Lily Jones, Miles Moore, Ezra Mitchener, Danielle Mincarelli, Caidence Rapp, Brynn Ribbing, and Madison Troutman.
A recent opening reception celebrated the exhibit and recognized the students’ hard work. Family members, teachers, and community members attended to view the artwork and support the seniors.
The exhibit will remain on display at Lakewood Memorial Library through the end of March.
