Falconer Rotary Club Taking On New Easter Events

FALCONER – The Falconer Rotary Club is taking on a new event soon that will invite the community to celebrate Easter.

Driven by a hope to keep a village tradition alive, the village’s Easter Egg Hunt will be continuing this year with the Easter Bunny coming to town for a second special occasion as well.

The Easter Egg hunt has been through a complex history when it comes to planning in recent years. Initially, the event would be organized by the Linda K Memorial Foundation, with sponsorship Falconer & Community For Our Youth Inc. This group would continue to host the egg hunt up until 2025, when the group was no longer available to host the event. Eventually, through the generosity of various community volunteers, the community was able to put together the event for that season, though it was clear something more sustainable was needed for a long-term solution.

Due to the fact that this event has become such a staple in the community, Falconer Rotary Board Trustee Nina Gustafson stated that the group was more than happy to take on the responsibility of the event.

“Last year there wasn’t going to be any Easter egg hunt, and a bunch of volunteers got together and finished it up. This year we decided Rotary was graciously able to coordinate it this year, because we have to have a non-profit the village cannot solicit the donations,” said Gustafson. “So we decided that we could do that and help out the village.”

Gustafson noted the many other community organizations that have come together to assist in the event in some way. One of the most involved of these groups is the fire department, which brings out an old-style fire truck that the Easter Bunny rides in on.

The Easter Bunny will be arriving before the egg hunt begins, giving the kids ample time to meet with the Easter Bunny and get pictures.

Gustafson also gave thanks to Ellicott PDA, which graciously provides a police offer for the event, and to the many community members that participate and support such events.

The Easter Bunny will not only be around the village for the egg hunt, but the Rotary Club will also be bringing him for the pancake breakfast one week earlier on March 21 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. The breakfast is a special take on the Rotary Club’s yearly breakfast to help raise project funding, being that the Easter Bunny will once again be present to meet children and take photos. Proceeds make it possible for the group to continue to fund activities and community projects, the main focus of which is currently renovations to the village’s Santa House.

“The Easter Bunny comes and rides in before the event starts, and the kids have the opportunity to get to meet with the Easter Bunny and get pictures taken,” said Gustafson. “There was Easter music and with speakers, we had it playing when the kids came over, and then we have the Easter Egg hunt.”

The Easter egg hunt will take place at Falconer Park on March 28, and will begin at 10 a.m. Gustafson stated that the event is still in need of volunteers. Anyone interested in aiding with the event is encouraged to contact 716-499-7391.
