Falconer Budget Includes .5% Tax Hike
FALCONER – Falconer Village Board members are looking at a .52% tax levy increase during early discussions of the village’s 2026-27 budget.
Total revenues in the proposed budget was $1,829,282, which would be a 7.3245% increase from 2025-26 total revenues of $1,704,438. The tax levy in the proposed budget for 2026-27 is $909,946, representing a 0.5165% increase on the previous levy of $905,270. Revenue increases include PILOT payments, which are projected to increase from $68,254 in 2025-26 to $89,286 in 2026-27. Other significant areas of revenue that saw an increase included CHIPS, increasing from $95,000 to $150,000, and sales tax, which increased from $374,000 to $400,100. There was also only one area of revenue that saw potential decreases in the proposed budget. Mortgage tax was the only potentially decreased revenue source, seeing a drop from $12,500 to $11,000.
The village’s tax rate is projected to increase about 18 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation. Total spending in the budget so far is nearly flat, increasing about $200 to $1,829,482.
“As the Village of Falconer prepares its 2026-2027 budget, the Village Board is keenly aware of the rising costs associated with state retirement, insurance, equipment, and parts,” said Village Mayor Jim Jarosynzski. “Through careful fiscal management, the board has maintained the budget within the New York State 2% property tax cap while continuing to provide essential services to residents.”
A budget work session will be held at 6 p.m. today in the village hall, 101 W. Main St. A public hearing for the proposed budget is set to be held on Monday, April 13, at 6 p.m., at the Fireman’s Exempt Hall, 1 Coleson Drive. For more information contact 716-665-4400.
