Edgewood Donation Supports Temple Sunshine Closet

In the event photo are Ken Vossler, an Edgewood resident and retired principal at Temple Elementary School, Molly Gustafson, founder of the Temple Sunshine Closet, and Sue Flynn, coordinator of the Edgewood Communities Chili Cook-Off.

Edgewood Communities recently held its annual Chili Cook-Off, selecting the Temple Sunshine Closet as this year’s benefactor.

The event raised $150 in donations along with a collection of single‒serve, shelf‒stable food items to support the program’s Weekend Food Bag initiative.

This year’s partnership carried special meaning for both Edgewood Communities and the Falconer Central School District. Edgewood resident Ken Vossler is a retired principal of Paul B.D. Temple Elementary School, where the Temple Sunshine Closet now operates.

Molly Gustafson, a pre-kindergarten teacher at Paul B.D. Temple Elementary, also has two aunts who reside within Edgewood Communities.

The Temple Sunshine Closet welcomes support from community members, organizations, and local businesses. Ways to help include:

– Donate Items that include single‒serve shelf‒stable foods, hygiene products, children’s clothing and school supplies.

– Make a financial contribution. As a 501(c)(3), all monetary donations are tax‒deductible and directly support year‒round student needs.

– Groups and volunteers can assist through supply drives, sponsorships or ongoing support initiatives.

For more information or to stay updated, supporters can contact Paul B.D. Temple Elementary School and follow the Temple Sunshine Closet Facebook page.

Starting at $3.50/week.
