Wind Gusts Create Outages In Region

About 65 power outages across central and southern Chautauqua County are impacting 1,200 customers on Saturday morning. The outages are reported south of Jamestown and around Chautauqua Lake. High winds led to most of the outages with 234 active outages affecting more than 4,300 customers upstate, according to National Grid. Highest wind gusts were reported in the north county by National Weather Service spotters on Friday night and Saturday morning. They include: Fredonia, 60 mph; Forestville and Jamestown airport at 53; Clymer, 52; Ripley and Lakewood 47.

Community Helping Hands Pausing Thrift Store Operations

Community Helping Hands will be pausing its thrift store operations. This means that donations of clothing, furniture and household goods are not being accepted. March 20 will be the last day to shop in the thrift stores. Only clients who already have appointments prior to March 20 will be served. During this pause in the Community Helping Hands thrift store operations, the Mental Health Association and St. Susan’s Center will continue their operations in the Gateway Center without disruption. Northwest Arena To Host Home, Garden Show

The Northwest Arena will host its Think Spring Home & Garden Show on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show will feature a lineup of vendors showcasing home improvement, landscaping, gardening, outdoor living, remodeling services and home decor. Guests will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with vendors and discover new products and services. The event will also include a beer garden with a selection of regional craft beers and “Ask the Expert” sessions led by local professionals, with topics including landscaping tips, home renovation planning, energy efficiency, seasonal maintenance, and outdoor living design. There will also be giveaways and prizes. “The Think Spring Home & Garden Show is about bringing our community together to get excited for the season ahead,” said Tonja Rinaldo. “From educational sessions to the Beer Garden and prize giveaways, we’re creating an experience that’s informative, interactive, and enjoyable for everyone.” Tickets are $5 a person the day of the event or are available online at Northwestarena.com

Firth Lutheran Community Store Hosting Sale

The First Lutheran Church community store will have a 2026 end-of-winter $3 clothing bag sale Tuesday, Thursday, Tuesday, March 24 and Thursday, March 26, on the third floor of the church’s Educational Building, 120 Chandler St. Enter through the awning door to access the elevator. Clothing and houseware donations are accepted. No electronics are accepted. The public is welcome. The Community Store will not be open Tuesday, March 31, or Thursday, April 2, due to Holy Week observances.

Clymer French Creek Library Board To Meet

The regular meeting of the Clymer French Creek Free Library will be on Thursday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the library. The public is welcome to attend.
