Weather Allows Department Of Public Works To Get Out Snowblower Sidewalk Plow

With the continuous winter weather, the city of Jamestown’s Public Works department has had a lot of work to do to keep up with the snow. Recently, the weather allowed them to be able to get out their snowblower sidewalk plow.

“It is essentially a snowblower mounted on the front of a sidewalk plow and has been part of our operations for a long time–over 20 years,” Director of Public Works, Mark Roetzer, said. “It is primarily used for clearing snow off bridges around the city, but we also use it on New York State Department Of Transportation routes such as Foote Avenue, Washington Street, Forest Avenue, etc.”

This specific snowblower has seen a lot of use since the recent winter storm. Roetzer said the department is focused on basic snow removal downtown and once the snowfall had mostly stopped they were able to assign an operator for the snowblower. He added that the weather conditions right now are perfect for the machine.

“The conditions are basically perfect for it right now, cold, and lots of heavy snow, so we are using it as much as we can to get sidewalks open,” Roetzer said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
