Residents of Tanglewood Manor recently came together to support some of the community’s smallest and most vulnerable members by handcrafting more than 30 hats for premature babies in the UPMC maternity unit.
After weeks of work, residents and staff personally delivered the hats to the UPMC maternity team, offering warmth, comfort, and encouragement to families during an incredibly meaningful time in their lives.
“This project meant so much to our residents,” said Jake Blackmar, activities director at Tanglewood Manor. “They put a lot of love into every single hat, knowing it would help bring comfort to a baby and family who truly needs it. Being able to deliver them in person made it even more special.”
Tanglewood Manor staff create opportunities for residents to stay engaged, give back, and remain connected to the greater community through service-driven initiatives.
“At Culture Care Senior Living, we believe our residents still have so much to give,” said Zac Hnatyszyn, vice president of community outreach for Culture Care Senior Living. “This is a perfect example of how meaningful impact happens when seniors are empowered to serve their community. These hats may be small, but the message behind them is incredibly powerful.”
