Wicked Warren’s Loan Modified

The Jamestown Local Development Corporation has unanimously approved modifications to the JLDC’s loan to Wicked Warren’s on Third Street.

Board member Eric Hagglund, owner of 4 Below Haggy’s Bar and Grill, asked if the business has to prove that they are up to date with any payments to their providers.

“Is there anything where they have to prove they’re up to date with any of their payments to any of their providers like their beer and liquor and suppliers, things like that, where they need to do that or they’re getting farther behind in debt?” Hagglund said. “My fear is if you’re letting them pause payment A, and suddenly they’re not paying payment B, C, D, E, F, G, H, is there something?”

Mayor Kim Ecklund said in the agreement with Wicked Warren’s there are specific guidelines that the business has to meet. Part of the process is having continued conversation, and Ecklund said they will not go for a period of time without checking in.

“In that agreement we have specific guidelines that they have to meet, some of which is exactly what you’re asking for,” Ecklund said. “We’re not going to go a brief period of time without any conversation, this is a continual, ongoing, where are you at, what’s going on?”

Aili Makuch, city economic development coordinator, said part of the stipulations is that the business owners should be attending some future JLDC meetings in the coming months as well. She added she has notes on her calendar to check in with him on the dates that have been predetermined.

The ratification of the loan modification was approved by the JLDC board, and corporation counsel Elliot Raimondo said that was all that was needed and it does not need to come before the City Council, as it is only a loan modification ratification.
