Four new members of the Jamestown City Council have now taken their oaths of office.

The meeting began with calling to order the recessed meeting from December 29, 2025, and last year’s City Council president Tony Dolce, R-Ward 2, again thanked the council for their support along with a brief recognition of the outgoing council members.

“I gave my remarks last week, so again I just wanted to thank the members of this council for putting me into this position for the last six years and I appreciate all of the support from them and the administration under two different mayors and several different department heads,” Dolce said.

Following the adjournment of the recessed meeting, the members of the 2026 City Council were sworn in, including the four new members, Daniel Gonzalez, D-At Large, Jeremy Engquist D-At Large, Hannah Jaroszynski D-Ward 5, and Douglas Scotchmer, D-Ward 4. A few county legislators were sworn in at the meeting as well.

Regina Brackman, D-Ward 3, was elected as city council president, the first Black president in the council’s history, and members were given their official board, commission and committee appointments.

City boards and commissions appointments were given by Mayor Kim Ecklund and approved by city council. For the city’s committees, Scotchmer was appointed chair of the Finance Committee, with Andrew Faulkner R-Ward 6, and Brent Sheldon, R-Ward 1, as members. Gonzalez will be chair of the Public Works Committee, with Russell Bonfiglio, R-At Large, and Engquist as members. Dolce will serve as chair of the Public Safety Committee, and members will be Brackman and Jaroszynski. Jaroszynski will also chair the Housing Committee and members will be Gonzalez and Sheldon. All committee appointments were made by Brackman as the new council president.

Starting at $3.50/week.
