Resolutions For Multiple Bond Payments Up For Discussion For Council

The first official work session for the Jamestown city council for this year sees multiple resolutions for bond payments up for discussion, with many dating years back for public improvement projects.

The 2013 Public Improvement Bonds were issued to finance improvements to the Cherry Street and Main Street parking ramps. The total payment for this bond is $452,419. The principal payment is $415,000 with $37,419 interest and is due February 1.

A second bond payment due January 15 is for the 2015 Public Improvement Bonds Series A. These bonds were issued in 2015 to finance new DPW/Parks equipment, Police and Fire radio equipment, parking ramp traffic coating, Tracy Plaza Improvements, and other City Hall/building improvements. The total payment for this bond is $229,175. The principal payment is $195,000 with $34,175 interest.

A third bond payment is due March 1 for the 2021 Public Improvement Bonds, which totaled $5.47 million and were issued to finance $2.42 million of DPW/Parks equipment, $1.36 million of Fire Department equipment, $.15 million for the new Fleet Maintenance facility, and $1.53 million for City Hall/DPW heating and cooling upgrades. The total payment is $344,445, with a principal payment of $290,000 and $54,445 interest.

The last bond payment on the agenda for tonight’s meeting is due June 1 for the refunded 2011A bonds. The bonds were issued to finance improvements to the Central Garage, DPW/Parks/Fire Department equipment and other City Hall improvements. The total payment of the 2011A bond is $338,250, with a $330,000 principal payment and $8,250 interest.

All of these bond payments are budgeted for in the 2026 General Fund budget.

The council’s work session begins at 7:30 p.m. in the police training room on the fourth floor of city hall. Council committees meet before the work session. The Housing Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. in the police training room with the Finance Committee at 7 p.m. in the mayor’s fourth floor conference room, the Public Safety Committee in the police training room at 7 p.m. and the Public Works Committee in the Development Department conference room at 7 p.m.
