Lakewood Mayor Makes Appointments At Organizational Meeting

LAKEWOOD – At their organizational meeting Monday, the Lakewood Board of Trustees approved Mayor Randy Holcomb’s appointments.

The appointments include the Auditing Committee of Ellen Barnes and Scott Cooper; the Finance Committee of Cooper and Ben Troche; the Grants Committee of John Shedd and Barnes; the Parks and Recreation Committee of Shedd and Cooper; the Personnel Committee of Troche and Shedd; the Public Safety Committee of Troche and Barnes; the Streets and Sidewalks Committee of Cooper and Troche; and the Zoning Committee of Barnes and Shedd.

Holcomb’s appointments to liaison positions include Cooper to the Events and Marketing Committee; Shedd to the Comprehensive Plan Improvement Committee; Troche to the Lakewood Community Development Corp.; and Barnes to the Lake Environmental and Alliance Committee.

John Certo was appointed as the Department of Public Works Supervisor and Jeffery Swanson was re-appointed as Code Enforcement Officer.

Apryl Troutman was reappointed as village clerk, treasurer, and local registrar, and Shaunah Pilling was appointed to serve as village deputy treasurer.

Gary Segrue, Louis Drago Jr., Carrie Brown, John Jablonski, and Jack McCray all were appointed to the village zoning board of appeals/planning board.

Trustees also approved M&T Bank, Key Bank, and W.N.Y. & Community Bank as the village’s official banks for business. The Post-Journal also was approved as the village’s official newspaper of record, and the mileage rate of 72.5 cents per mile as set by the Internal Revenue Service was approved.

The board also approved times and dates for village board meetings. The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays, and each meeting will be preceded by a work session beginning at 6:15 p.m.

In between the conclusion of the organizational meeting and before the start of the regular meeting, Cooper, Shedd, and Troche were sworn into office in a unique way – at the same time. Each trustee placed his hand on the Bible while repeating the oath of office given by Troutman.
