Donation Celebration: United Way Event To Wrap Up Campaign

Staff from Prevention Works, a prominent donation to the United Way campaign, show how close the campaign is to reaching its goal.

The event to wrap-up this year’s United Way campaign in Chautauqua County will take place today, Jan. 27.

The wrap-up event will be taking place at the The Chop House on Main, 2 E. Second St., Jamestown. Nick Dean, United Way of Chautauqua County communications and marketing director, said the event is traditionally where the organization will announce whether or not the campaign goal has been reached. Regardless of the outcome, Dean noted that this is a celebratory event. This is because the event recognizes the many members of the community, and local organizations, that generously contributed to much.

“We’ve also been encouraged by engagement from employers like Refresco and Chautauqua Chemicals, where we’ve seen renewed energy around workplace campaigns,” said Amy Rohler, United Way executive director. “When companies grow their participation, it reinforces that United Way remains a trusted partner for local impact.”

Rohler noted that many organizations that have once again returned to give a significant donation toward the United Way. Familiar names to many such as Purina , Wegmans, Cummins, and the Sheldon Foundation have all been amongst some of the largest donors in the area. Rohler noted that it speaks volumes to the level of support that the group receives, being that there are so many major manufacturers and local foundations that continue to increase their support for the campaign.

“We’re continuing to track and tally gifts as they arrive, and will be crunching the numbers right down to the wire before our Campaign Celebration event scheduled for Tuesday. We’re very close to our $1.7 million goal, and this final stretch matters — because every additional gift helps strengthen the collective impact we’re able to make throughout the county,” said Rohler.

The Spectrum Eyecare team celebrates the campaign closing it on the goal total.

As of Jan. 23, the camping is 97% of the way to the goal. Although still slightly short, there is certainly still enough time to be able to bring the total up to the anticipated $1.7 million. The event is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. For more information contact 716-483-1561.

Starting at $3.50/week.
