Chargers Near Exit Add Jolt For Travelers

Owners of electric vehicles can now “fuel-up” at the Findley Lake exit on I-86.

If you’ve driven past the Findley Lake exit on I-86 recently, something new may have caught your eye — six rapid-charging Electric Vehicle stations have been installed just south of Exit 4.

Mulligan Property Management, LLC, a corporation formed by longtime Findley Lake residents Tyler Brumagin and Ed Mulkearn, has been developing the property on which the EV stations are installed. “Our area was in need of high-speed car charging capabilities and the proximity to I-86 made this location a no-brainer,” Brumagin said. “It was exciting to see these chargers go live and see them put our property ‘on the map.'”

Brumagin said he and Mulkearn formed their partnership when they recognized a potential for this property to host multiple business ventures. Also, on the property, Organic Blooms Cannabis dispensary recently opened. “The legalization of cannabis in New York created the demand for this business, and the location is perfect, in our opinion,” he said.

The project was 100% funded by the New York Power Authority, through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, Brumagin said. The NEVI program is part of the Federal Bi-partisan Infrastructure Law, enacted in 2021, aimed at creating EV charging stations across the United States.

It took a considerable amount of time to plan and obtain the permits for the charging stations, Brumagin said. “The EV stations took approximately one month from the first shovel in the ground until the first car was charging,” he said. “We believe these chargers will open the door to local residents and travelers who are considering making an EV purchase a reality.”

Brumagin said he was impressed with the speed of the chargers. “One of my neighbors who has a cottage at the lake was able to bring his EV here from the west side of Cleveland for the first time because of this new charging capability,” he said. “The high speed capacity had him charged in only 18 minutes.”

The EV stations and Organic Blooms are not the final pieces of the puzzle, Brumagin said. “We also have the intention of hosting a gas station/convenience store on the property, as well as additional retail store fronts,” he said. “The final piece to the puzzle will be the construction of a brewery. We are working with a successful brewery team to conceptualize this portion of the project and make this dream a realty.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
