The City Council’s Public Works Committee has heard concerns from a member of the public regarding a few issues at a home on South Avenue.

During a recent council work session, councilman Randy Daversa, R-At Large and chair of the Public Works Committee, reported that a constituent came to them during the committee meeting with problems with runoff from the city coming into their pool during storms, along with a few other concerns.

“There seems to be a problem with who would maintain South Avenue because one side is Busti and the other side is Jamestown,” Daversa said. “It’s been an ongoing issue on who plows it and maintains it.”

There is also no proper drainage on the street because Daversa said it is not a certified street with curbs, gutters and drainage as of now. Public Works Director, Mark Roetzer, is going to look into the issue.

“Mark is going to check in to see if the city can work with the town of Busti for this,” Daversa said. “I think there’s about three houses that sit on that block and it’s a non-paved street so it can get rough down there, I’ve been down there.”

Daversa said the plan is for Roetzer to look into the issues and see if the city can work in conjunction with the town of Busti to get some of the resident’s concerns addressed.
