PANAMA — The Panama Village Board’s recent meeting was also the final meeting for Kim Davis, outgoing village trustee.
Davis has lived in the village for 13 years and nine of those years were spent as a trustee on the Village Board. Mayor William Schneider recognized her at the end of the village’s December meeting.
“The last thing is, recognition for Kim and all of the time and dedication she put into the village,” Schneider said. “We appreciate it. The village appreciates it.”
The board also recognized Davis with a gift and small reception. Schneider added that while she will no longer be a trustee she will still be an official appointed position as an events coordinator or consultant, which is a new position for the village, reemphasizing how much they have appreciated Davis’s work over the years.
“It really has been an honor … I’ve lived here 13 years and been doing this for nine,” Davis said. “I had no idea what I was getting into when I was asked.”
Davis noted that she originally came to the position because she was appointed after someone had to back out of the position, finishing that term and then officially running after that a number of times. Davis added that she is still on board for whatever the village needs of her. Schneider said that while the job may be a thankless one, all of the village board members do a great job. Davis said that they do not do it for the thanks, and the group talked about putting on the village events such as Christmas in Panama, Memorial Day, and Halloween and the fun that they have had at those. Davis said the village has tried new things over the years as well, bringing the village community together and keeping up their Small Town America.
“That’s what it’s all about,” Schneider said.
