Council To Discuss Allocation Of Funds To Blooming Gardens Project
A resolution focused on the Department of Development allocating HOME Redevelopment Funds to the ongoing Blooming Gardens project in the city is up for discussion at tonight’s city council work session.
The Blooming Gardens project is being done in a collaboration between Southern Tier Environments for Living and CODE Inc. The project will be 44 units taking up a seven-parcel space on Spring Street. The project has also recently received funding from the state through Homes and Community Renewal.
The resolution set to be discussed tonight looks to allocate $200,000 to CODE Inc. and STEL for site preparation. The agenda notes that the city previously approved the reallocation of funds into the HOME Redevelopment program after it was created in the Fiscal Year 2023 Annual Action Plan, with the purpose of these funds to assist in site preparation activities and both hard and soft costs. The $200,000 would assist CODE Inc. and STEL in preparing to begin their project located on Spring Street and scattered site rehabilitation of housing that has not had significant work done since the early 1990s.
Resolutions asking for the approval of the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s required submission of a Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report, a lease agreement with Chautauqua County for use of the third floor of Jamestown’s Municipal Building for use by the County Health Department, and support for the beginning of construction on Phase One of Jamestown Community College’s Wellness Center are also on the agenda for tonight’s meeting.
The council’s work session begins at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the police training room on the fourth floor of city hall. Council committees meet before the work session. The Housing Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. in the police training room with the Finance Committee at 7 p.m. in the mayor’s fourth floor conference room, the Public Safety Committee in the police training room at 7 p.m. and the Public Works Committee in the Development Department conference room at 7 p.m.
