City Christmas Tree Installed At Tracy Plaza

The Jamestown Christmas Tree is pictured as city Parks, Recreation and Conservation crews bring the tree through the city to City Hall on Friday.

This year’s Jamestown Christmas Tree made its way Friday from the Messina family’s lot on Sampson Street to City Hall on Friday.

The tree is a 40-foot tall Douglas fir tree. Crews from the City’s Parks, Recreation & Conservation Department, along with assistance from the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities crew and crane, removed the tree. It was loaded onto a truck and trailer donated & driven by Lake Shore Paving and transported to City Hall for display on Tracy Plaza.

The route for the tree started on Sampson Street heading south to Glendale Avenue and then east to Forest Avenue, across the Washington Street Bridge and then to City Hall. The BPU crane raised and held the tree in place while it was secured in preparation for decoration. The tree will tower 40 feet tall on Tracy Plaza and will then be decorated by the Parks Department staff members with more than 3,000 energy saving LED lights.

The ceremonial lighting of the Christmas Tree will take place during the Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 6.

The city is also hosting its 2025 Holiday Lights Contest, encouraging residents to embrace the holiday spirit and turn their homes into festive wonderlands for a chance to win a ShopLocalCHQ gift card. The contest is open to all residents within the city of Jamestown. The contest is sponsored by the Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union and Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union.
