Celoron, Cassadaga, Cherry Creek write-in names released
While results are still unofficial, the Chautauqua County Board of Elections has released the names written in for two vacant seats, as well as a write-in candidate who appears to have beaten a person listed on the ballot.
In Cassadaga, Jeffrey Frick was the only name on the ballot for two trustee seats. Frick, who ran on the Republican line, received 162 votes.
For the second seat, Danna DuBois, who is currently a trustee, received 113 write-in votes, while Bill Dorman, who is the current mayor, received 32 write-in votes.
In addition, there were 6 “scatterings” recorded.
In the town of Cherry Creek, Becky Rowicki was the only name on the ballot for two councilmember seats. Rowicki, who ran on the Republican line, received 108 votes.
For the second seat, Jeffrey Chase, who is listed on the town board’s website as a councilman, received 17 write-in votes while Jayson Rowicki Jr. received 5 write-in votes.
In addition, there were 2 scatterings recorded.
Meanwhile, in Celoron, a write-in candidate appears to have won a spot on the ballot over an incumbent trustee.
For the two trustee seats Michael Moss and Joshua Glover both ran on the Citizen line. Moss received 123 votes, while Glover received 47 votes. The two are both listed on the village website as current trustees.
According to the Board of Elections, there were 72 write-in ballots cast for Shaun Smith, which is higher than the votes cast for Glover.
There were an additional 8 scatterings as well.
The Board of Elections is working to certify all elections this week.
