Zone Capital Corp. To Discuss New Direction
The city’s Greater Jamestown Zone Capital Corporation held its annual meeting recently, discussing normal general meeting items along with looking at the corporation’s future.
A list of officers was voted on, staying mostly the same as last year with the exception of Economic Development Coordinator, Aili Makuch, being named president in place of her predecessor, Stephanie Wright. The officer list includes Mayor Kim Ecklund as Chairman of the Board, by virtue of her office, Development Director Crystal Surdyk as Secretary, by virtue of her position, Jim Jarosynski as Vice Chairman for 2025 for a one year term, Aili Makuch as President for 2025 for a one year term, and Bill Salter as Treasurer for 2025 for a one year term.
“At the beginning of the meeting, Mayor Ecklund made sure to introduce me as Economic Development Coordinator, as this is the first time I had met most of these board members in-person,” Makuch said. “We also discussed the need to find new legal counsel, as Michael Goldman, Esq., retired September 1 of this year.”
Additionally, as far as the future of the Greater Jamestown Zone Capital Corporation goes, Makuch said a discussion of their future was held, with the potential to offer some more loans, but no definitive plan was made. Makuch added that her task is to work on some general marketing plans to review at a future board meeting in the first quarter of 2026.
“We will go from there and continue to discuss how we move forward,” Makuch said.
Other general items for the meeting included the normal approval of the meeting minutes from the March 2024 meeting and the overall financial reports from 2024 as well. Makuch said an incorrect deposit was found to be shown on the account in the financial reports through August 2025, so that was not approved but should be when the corporation meets again next as part of the reports for the whole year.
