Pet Expo: A Day Of Doggy Fun

Nomi, this week’s Chautauqua County Humane Society Pet of the Week, is pictured. She’s proof that even shy cats can be total lovebugs. She may need a little time to get comfortable, but once she does, she’ll lean right into your pets and beg for more. Meet Nomi soon at the Chautauqua County Humane Society. All animals adopted from the Chautauqua County Humane Society have been spayed or neutered, are up to date for vaccinations, and have a microchip.
The Chautauqua County Humane Society’s Pet Expo ’25 is less than two weeks away, Saturday, Oct. 18, from noon to 5 p.m.
Tickets, priced at $10, are available at Chqhumane.org. The expo will have a full day of programs focused on animals found in the community throughout the Northwest Arena.
The main entrance for CCHS Pet Expo ’25 will be The Hall, which is the Second Street entrance to the Northwest Arena across from the National Comedy Center Gift Shop. Those entering The Hall will find exotic creatures and wildlife demonstrations by Chris Duckett of Wild Creatures, Sandra Emke of TSE Wildlife, and Payge Olson, who is a local wildlife rescuer. Demonstrations will be at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Representatives will be available throughout the expo to visit with.
There will be two rings in Rink B at the Northwest Arena. Ring 1 will feature Disc Dog Demonstrations along with a chance for your dog to give it a shot with Zoe Spencer, Chautauqua County Humane Society behavior and enrichment coordinator, at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. and agility demonstrations and try-its with Christine McKay of the K9 Complex at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Alongside Ring 1, Carly Davis of CHQ Dogs will be offering Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog tests for the duration of the expo. Ring 2 will feature the 4H Dog Team Demonstrations at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and try-it opportunities for pups attending the expo throughout the day.
There will also be a number of grooming demonstrations put on by local pet groomers.
On the main stage, also located on Rink B, Gina Baker’s Nosework Connections with demonstrations and try-its will take place starting at 12:30 p.m. At 2 p.m. the Humane Society is inviting those attending to take part in Layla’s Pet Costume Parade, and then the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department’s K9 Unit will be putting on a demonstration at 3 p.m. Find the full list of activities and vendors at Chqhumane.org.
